What Is PNR Number :

PNR is Passenger Name Record. It is the record of database of the passenger. It is the number from which we will get all details about the passenger. We can get PNR number always when we book any ticket of bus/train/flight. This PNR number contain all information of the journey. IRCTC give you 10 digit number when we book rail ticket.

How To Check PNR Status :

We are going to see various PNR checking methods which will help you easily to get status of the ticket. You can easily see that your ticket is confirm or not.

• ONLINE :

          Checking PNR status online is very simple method. For this you just need to have 10 digit PNR number.

          Step 1:- Visit IRCTC website www.indianrail.gov.in/pnr_Enq.html. 

          Step 2:- Now enter your 10 digit PNR number. 

          Step 3:- Enter the captcha. 

          Step 4:- Now click on get status button.  

Now it will display your status of the ticket.

• SMS:

          You can check PNR status using SMS for offline users. You just have to send one message from your mobile "PNR Number ” to 5888 / 57886 / 5676747. You just have to enter the 10 digit number and send to any number. Now you will recieve the reply from irctc about the status of ticket confirmation.

• Helpline Number:

          You can directly call on helpline number of irctc. Helpline number for irctc is 139. This is automatic voice response call. For this you just have to follow the instruction. When you are requested to enter PNR number you can enter and you can get the status of your ticket instantly.

There are various codes we will see when we check the ticket status. We can easily check the ticket with following code we just need to understand.

• CNF : Confirmed (Coach/Berth number will be available after chart preparation)

• RAC : Reservation Against Cancellation

• WL : Waiting List Number

• GNWL : General Wait List

• RLWL : Remote Location Wait List

• CAN / MOD : Cancelled or Modified Passenger

• REGRET/WL : No More Booking Permitted

• PQWL : Pooled Quota Wait List

• R# #RAC : Coach Number Berth Number

• RELEASED Ticket : Not Cancelled but Alternative Accommodation Provided.
